This festival is open to all students in grades 1 through 12 and collegiate music majors. The objective is to elevate the standards of performance among young people and to give recognition to those who strive for excellence in performance and piano teaching.
- Grades 1 through 3 compete for medals and ribbons. Grades 4 through 12 compete for cash prizes. All grades may perform for comments only.
- High School seniors who are preparing to major in music at a Kansas college or university have the option of auditions for the Milo Wright Scholarship award of $700. High School seniors choose to compete in the Senior Division or Milo Wright Scholarship.
- Collegiate music majors may audition for the Francis A. Wallingford Memorial Piano Performance award of $1,000 or the Francis A. Wallingford Memorial Piano Pedagogy award of $1,000. (Entrants must choose one of the collegiate options.)
